Dakar 2020

In January 2020, Van Loon Racing invited me to go to Saudi Arabia for the Dakar Rally. I did photography there and wrote the press and news releases for Erik van Loon. For me it was the first Dakar Rally and I really enjoyed it. Despite the death of Paolo Goncalves and Edwin Straver, it was an inspiring experience. The participation of Formula 1 driver Fernando Alonso was one of the highlights. Category winners were: Ricky Brabec (Honda – bikes), Ignacio Casale (Yamaha – quads), Carlos Sainz and Lucas Cruz (Mini Buggy – cars), Casey Currie and Sean Berriman (Can-Am – SSVs) and Andrey Karginov, Andrey Mokeev and Igor Leonov (Kamaz – trucks).
